I have always been a singer. From the earliest days in the church choir through to working professionally with Opera North, it’s been who I am, it’s in my lifeblood.
Over the years I have come to see how singing is a gift that connects us as human beings, it is fun, joyful, beautiful and also powerful; and I love the way it draws us into community.
I love nothing better than getting a group of people singing, so amongst other things, I offer “come and sing” days, singing weekends, singing walks and even cycling (and singing) courses!
I have also established a series of courses on Mindfulness and Singing with my good friend, Shaun Lambert who is a psychotherapist and mindfulness consultant.
My aim is to establish regular groups, some that are for wellbeing and health, other groups to explore faith.
I am happy to come to you, so if you would like to book me for an event do get in touch and I can guarantee you a way of singing that is encouraging, uplifting and lots of fun.
Everything I do is inclusive - I am fully supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community and I aim to make sure that my events are accessible to all.
Here’s a few things people have said about my workshops:
“Singing weekend – such fun but so much more !! Harmony in the music, harmony amongst the people and all in the tangible presence of God.”
“Fantastic workshop – Mike was excellent – encouraging, motivating, fun and relaxed which meant we all tried very hard and produced a great sound. Wish that more of our church could have experienced this weekend.”
“The move towards harmony in music mirrors reconciliation and the move from brokenness to healing in divided communities.”
“I was really inspired by the singing weekend and would certainly like to come to one next year. Its inclusive nature was particularly noteworthy.”
“WOW – Christ at the centre of everything is evident. Fabulous weekend, thank you Mike for your teaching, leading and guiding us to enjoy singing and enjoy the presence of God.
